Athlete Grants

National Nordic Foundation Athlete Support Grants

Athletic excellence emerges through rigors of training, unwavering commitment, and often subsequent successes, setbacks, and revisions.  We recognize, in our past and current champions, the attitudes, drive, and commitment that got them there.  While one athlete may be enjoying a rising trajectory, simultaneously an equally committed and talented athlete may be facing adversity on their pathway to the top. Our goal is the help keep both athletes on a track to future success.

The NNF Athlete Support Grant intends to boost committed athletes who exhibit or have exhibited a propensity for international racing success as a nordic athlete, who faces circumstances critical to that mission that require financial support beyond categories captured in our pillar projects.

The grant I received from the National Nordic Foundation last year was instrumental in helping to support my first year as a professional skier. Initiatives like this one help up-and-coming athletes like myself focus on reaching our competitive goals by shifting some focus away from figuring out how we are going to fund our way to doing so. Thank you, NNF!

NNF Awards Athlete Support Grants to 16 Skiers

The summer cycle for NNF’s Athlete Support Grants has ended. NNF is proud to have awarded a total of $20,000 among 16 skiers who represent the exceptional breadth, and depth, of talent among the next generation of US skiers.

This latest cycle of grants was overseen by a selection committee comprised of NNF Board members Sophie Caldwell Hamilton, Kikkan Randall, and Colin Rodgers.

The cross-section of NNF grantees demonstrates US Skiing’s growing success at developing internationally competitive nordic skiers. Represented among those selected for funding are skiers with World Cup starts, top World Junior Championships finishes, OPA Cup podiums, and U18 Nordic Nation’s Cup wins. The breadth of programs with athletes receiving funding geographically spans from New England to Alaska, and includes clubs and schools from the junior, collegiate, and elite level. Taken together, the NNF Athlete Support Grants awarded this cycle point towards an auspicious future for US skiing, and the continued success of supporting our developing athletes on a national scale through NNF.
